Easy Fix for Scratched Wooden Doors

Easy Fix for Scratched Wooden Doors

If you are like us, anxious dogs have scratched our wooden doors trying to get to us when we are in the room!  I’ve been dreading taking the doors off, stripping the finish, staining again, varnishing, and rehanging.  I tried the scratch pencils that you can use to fill in the scratches and they just didn’t work.  Plus as you can see from the pictures, the scratches were far too many!

I have discovered an easy way to fix scratched wooden doors with a product you probably have in your kitchen – Olive Oil!  Just put some Olive Oil on a soft cloth and rub into the scratches.  In no time, the scratches disappear and stay away.

    • Thanks Suzann! That’s exactly how I felt when I started experimenting and tried it. My doors looked awful as you can see in the picture. They still look great and when they do get scratched, I just get out then oil. Tell your hubby he’s welcome!

  4. Your tip has just made my day, thank you so much Lisa! Our dog was a bit too anxious at the door when she was a puppy and we’re having our landlord over in a few days… You’ve saved me a lot of grief and probably money, too. Works like magic – who would’ve thought?
