I buy a lot of fabric at garage sales so I am always looking for something to make with it. I’ve seen these wreaths online, but thought I would try one myself. It was easy and I love how it looks!
You will need:
- 4 ring wire wreath – I used 12″, but you can use any size
- 2 -3 yards fabric, all the same or coordinating (yardage may vary depending on how full and how long you like the strips)
Cut about half of the fabric to start into strips about 1″ x 8″. Begin on the inner ring and tie a strip on with a simple knot. You can tie a square knot, but then your strips will need to be longer. I only did this on the outer ring.
Don’t get to worried about cutting them exact. It won’t matter when they are pushed together on the wreath.
Repeat and push to the edge until the strips are tied tightly next to each other. I found it easiest to do a section at a time in between the vertical wires.
When you get to the outer ring use longer strips so you can tie double knots on the outer wire to hold everything. You can use double knots on all of your wreath, but you will need more fabric and longer strips. I found it not really necessary.
Just keep going until it is as full as you like it. I like them very packed together, but some people like more loose, longer strips. Trim any edges that are too long or stick out.
There are so many options! Add a bow, holiday decorations, or use holiday fabric. It’s also a project that you can do with the kids.
